Max MP3 Benefit: Maximize Your Listening Pleasure with Easy iTunes Tricks - Entertainment

So you've bought your favorite band's latest audio album and you can't wait to rip it? How do you do it? Frugal music lovers have got their free peer to peer software installed. Using that, they've also downloaded all the free unlimited MP3 from all types of music genres that they ever wanted. But how do they put all those MP3 on their iPods? So, how do you derive the maximum benefit out of all those free MP3 files?

With everyone raving about iPhone at the moment I thought I'd take a moment and revisit some old chummies from the Apple pedigree. Yeah, I'm talking about iPod and iTunes. Basically, what I've done here is I've scoured the "information highway" - or what most people like to call the Internet - and presented some useful tips and tricks for you which I believe are sure to help you reap the maximum benefit out of MP3 and iTunes. You might already know some of these cool hacks but hey there's always something new to learn out of everything!

1. Internet Radio StreamingStarting with the general favorite - iTunes offers a boatload of streaming radio stations for its users. Whatever you genre be - indie or a cappella you can get it on there. Click the radio icon tacked in the program's left pane to get started.

2. Quickly Add Songs From CD To Existing Play ListIn case you don't decide to rip MP3 from your Audio CDs, you can quickly add a song from a CD to an existing play list by inserting the CD, and then dragging the song from the CD (in the Source list) to the play list.

3. Get Rid Of Redundant MP3 and other music filesThe latest version of iTunes helps you efficiently manage your music library. You can get rid of duplicate files and free up precious hard disk space by going to Edit > Show Duplicate Songs. There's a word of caution though. iTunes detects duplicate files by checking the artist and the track name. So if you have an acoustic version of an album stored on your hard disk by the same name as the original version, iTunes will flag it as redundant.

4. Change Song Duration Display FormatTo switch between total, elapsed, and remaining time, click the time display at the top of the iTunes window.

5. Rename SongsTo rename a song, album, or CD, select its name in a list, then click the name again.

6. Stop Annoying Blank CD MessagesTo avoid the message that appears when you insert a blank CD, click the Burn button before inserting the blank CD.

7. Hot KeysIt is so much more convenient to use iTunes with the help of a couple of quick keyboard shortcuts. You don't have to take your hands off your keyboard while you're typing, just to skip to the next track. Listed below are a few handy ones. Press the keys without the (+) symbol

Play the selected song Return KeySkip to the next track Command + Right Arrow KeyJump to the previous track Command + Left Arrow KeyCreate a new play list Command + NImport a song, library or play list file Shift + Command + OShow song location Command + RShow currently playing song Command + LAdd a file to the library Command + OTurn the visualizer off or on Command + T

Using and remembering these shortcuts might seem tricky at first but you'll start finding them useful and time-saving after using them a couple of times.

8. Get Track InformationEver inserted a CD and seen all the tracks listed as Track 1, Track 2, etc? Is it annoying? Adding real album info has been made easier with iTunes. If you're connected to the Internet, go to Menu Bar and click on Advanced > Get CD Track name. This trick comes in handy for people who download MP3 off peer to peer networks because not all MP3s get downloaded with proper files names. It makes it very difficult to find your favorite MP3 on your PC.

9. Print CD InsertsiTunes lets you print the list of all songs in your library or a selected play list to use as CD inserts or as a list of your music library. Select your library or play list and go to File > Print.

10. Share your MP3sIf you're connected to a network you can share your music with other people by going Edit > Preferences, then clicking over to the Sharing tab. Once there, you can choose to share your entire selection of songs or only certain play lists by checking the appropriate boxes.
