YouTube Video Collection on Mac - Computers - Software

YouTube have become a great source for audio visuals. There are literally millions of videos uploaded. So, you can find anything, almost anything there. Whether it is a movie trailer, movie scene, game review, gameplay, documentary, advertisements, homemade video, music video etc. you have a big chance of finding it in there. It is the biggest hub of videos now on the Internet. And the most thrilling fact is that it is completely free. If you want you can upload your videos there as well. Thus it became a great source for video sharing all over the world. You can upload any video and then share the link with the person you want to share it with.

You can easily view the YouTube videos; all you require is the latest flash player plug in update for the browser you are using. If it is upgraded then all you have to do is to go to YouTube and search for the video that you want to watch. There are a lot of filters in place that you can choose to make your search more accurate. These are all fine but there is a tiny bit of a problem. You cannot download the videos from YouTube, at least not directly.

It is hard to think that you got all these great videos in one place but you cannot download them in your computers and every time you want to watch it, you are going to have to stream the whole videos again. That is just not right. Then how do you download them?

If you are using Mozilla Firefox as your browser then you can download some add-ons for your browser that will let you download the videos from YouTube. Just go to the browser, click add-ons under Tools menu. It will open a new Window. You will find a search box there to search for add-ons. Write "Video Downloadhelper" or "YouTube downloader" or such keywords and you will get a list of available add-ons that you can use.

If you are using Safari on your Mac then you can use Safari's Activity Window for downloading the videos from YouTube. First search the YouTube for your desired video on Safari. Click the link of the video. When you see a new page with your video streaming on it, press Command-Option-A. The Activity Window will be shown. You will get a list of websites that you are currently using. Go to the YouTube link and click the arrow with it to show the activities. It will show a lot of activities that are going on. Find the link whose size is the biggest. Usually that is the video that is being loaded. Double click on it and Safari will download it for you. You don't have to wait for the whole video to be streamed to the page first for you to download it.

If all these seems too much work for you (with all these finding and installing things it is not surprising if you think so) then there is a free YouTube video downloader for Mac available. It is iSkysoft's iTube Studio for Mac. With this you don't have to go through all that hassle as before. You just install it on your computer and then when you go to your YouTube video page that you want to download, a floating button labeled Download will appear. Just click on it and your download will start. You can find it for both Mac and Windows.
